PC Recycler, Inc. provides both mobile and off-site hard drive and tape degaussing services. Two types of degaussers are employed for optimum data destruction. Both devices are re-certified annually by the manufacturer.
HD-1T Degausser
Meets National Security Agency and Department of Defense requirements for purging classified information with coercivities up to 5000 oersteds and magnetic tape media up to 2600 oersteds. Acceptable materials include all hard drives and tape materials that require a maximum level of security.
Type III Degausser
Meets National Security Agency requirements for purging classified information on magnetic tape media with coercivities up to 1700 oersteds, in addition to meeting HIPAA and GLB Act requirements for device and media controls policies and procedures that govern the receipt and removal of hardware and electronic media. Optimal for older media such as reel-to-reel and VHS tape.
