MSNBC Video:
“The Green Way to Throw Out Tech Toys”
MSNBC’s Nightly News recently reported a story on the importance of
electronics recycling. There is an ever-increasing interest in what
happens to computers and other electronics when they have reached
the end of their usage. The reason for this interest is in the
contents of these electronics. Electronics, computers especially,
contain precious metal such as gold, silver, and platinum.
Unfortunately, they also contain extremely toxic materials such as
lead and mercury. MSNBC reports that Americans recycle about 2
million tons of e-waste which includes metals, plastics, and
poisons. Brian Williams asks the question, “15 percent of
[electronics] get recycled, but what about the rest?”
